There was a man who gave an excellent talk about the life of a lobster and lobster fishing, you were mesmerized listening to him, never imagining that something so simple could be so interesting.
We loved walking the rocky beaches looking for little creatures, gathering mussels at Pretty Marsh that we boiled by the campfire, gathering choke cherries that I brought home to make syrup, and of course there are those wonderful Maine blueberries.
After the children were grown, my husband and I returned to Maine on a mission to see moose...and we did! On one narrow woodland road one darted into the side of our car! She was okay, and so was the car...a secret...if you want to guarantee seeing Moose in Moose country, go to he local DPW or wherever they pile their salt to put on the icey roads, they congregate there to lick the salt. Not exactly the natural setting you'd like to imagine, but it works :-) After reading about a few of our Maine memories, maybe you have a taste for some yummy lobster...follow the link below and see where it takes you!
