Healthy Breasts & Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is said to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I would not be surprised if all of us know someone who has breast cancer, someone who has lost the battle, and many others who are winning the breast cancer battle. I lost my closest friend a number of years ago to the disease, but have several other friends who are survivors and doing wonderfully. There have been great strides made in preventative measures and in treatment.

Have you done breast examination this month? When was your last physical and Mammogram? Please love your body enough to take care of it.

I had a Mammogram scare that I shared about at another site, click the article title which is "When Mammograms Show Findings - a Breast Exam Story".

Two supplements specifically for the breasts that may interest you are Breast Assured and Breast Enhance. Please contact me using the comment section for more information about these products, I will not approve private request comments.

Word Food Day USA ~ Help Stop World Hunger

Nutritionist's like myself think about food a lot...and want to encourage people to eat the healthiest foods possible. What a selection we have here in the US, and many are able to pick and chose the very best foods for themselves and their families.

However, this Nutritionist will admit that I don't think as often as I should about those around the world that would be happy to have the smallest piece of the most unhealthy of foods because they are starving. Each year I give food at church or a food pantry as a way to show my thanks for what God has given us.

October 16th is World Food Day...stop by and visit the World Food Day USA website, where they promote "a focus for year round action". See what events are taking place local to you, and what you can do to help.
Eat well, be thankful, but don't forget those who a going to bed hungry tonight.

School Nutrition Association and Natl School Lunch Week

National School Lunch Week is in mid-October. My children are grown now, but while they were young, I made their lunches every day.

Later, when it wasn't popular to have a lunch made by Mom, they started buy lunches at school. This started in middle school. I really didn't have a lot of say at this point about what they ate. I just handed them their dollar and change each day, and off they went.

I visited a website, the School Nutrition Association, that will help to keep you up on the latest news regarding promoting healthy eating in the school systems. As I often say, our children are our future, love them, feed them well, and teach them well.

Natural Ulcer Remedy

Ulcers run in my family, and my favorite remedy also came from a family member. My dear Dad struggled with ulcers, so did my Grandfather, he had a bleeding ulcer and had his stomach stapled, but did great after and lived to be 97.

Someone in my family shared a remedy with me that helps me when I am faithful in doing what I should. I'm not supposed to drink coffee (that's the hardest part for me...I like a cup in the morning, so when I have some, I take an antacid after), and I'm supposed to avoid dairy and white flour foods. I am supposed to:
  • Eat a lot of cabbage, raw or cooked
  • Have a tablespoon of Norwegian Cod Liver Oil first thing in the morning before eating breakfast
  • Drink Aloe Vera Juice in the amount suggested on the bottle after two meals (I usually have it after lunch and dinner, and sometimes at bedtime too)
  • Drin water with a green powder product like Barlean's Greens (I use Liquid Chlorophyll)
  • DGL wafer chewed 20 minutes apart from food (before or after meals)
  • A couple of capsules of Chamomile at bedtime. I keep a bottle next to the bed.
All the other things are set out all the time in a spot on our kitchen table so that I don't forget for the time I am taking them. All of these food's primary function is to kill off the H-pylori bacteria. Sometimes at bedtime, I'll also take some Stomach Comfort to help with the over-acid conditions during the night.
