New-to-Me Info on Magnesium

Actually, not all of this information is new to me, but a few things will change what I tell people about Magnesium from now on. For one thing, I've always told people that you take magnesium with calcium, 2 Calcium to 1 magnesium ratio. Actually most of us may need more magnesium than we are getting in our diet, or taking as a supplement. It activates over 300 different enzyme systems critical to life, is essential in the conversion of process of sugar to ATP, is involved in nucleic acid metabolism, and the synthesis of DNA and RNA. It helps control the flow of potassium and calcium in the cells.

Now I am reading/hearing that magnesium should not be taken with a high fat meal, and should be taken separate from calcium. B6 helps in the cellular uptake of magnesium.

Magnesium deficiencies can cause symptoms such as chronic fatigue, weakness, exhaustion, irregular or rapid heartbeat, muscle spasms, nervous tremors, insomnia, constipation, and more.

I have been taking Magnesium Complex in addition to the magnesium that is in my calcium supplement in the ration mentioned earlier.
